About

Guyana Cultural Association is a non-profit organization based in New York, committed to promoting Guyanese culture through the annual Guyana Folk Festival. Their mission is to document, showcase and celebrate the multiple roots of Guyana’s cultural heritage. Through their work, they promote the Guyanese cultural heritage and make it available through various channels to inspire future generations of Guyanese at home and abroad.

This organization host various events throughout the year, geared toward the Guyanese community in the United States as well as abroad. Some of the programs include

Role

Visual Designer Lead

As part of the GCA team, I serve as visual designer. My responsibilities within this role include:

Web Designer - I am tasked with updating website content including adding flyers, texts, submission forms, online galleries, and archiving web pages and web content.

Graphic Designer - I am tasked with the assembly and design of the organization’s monthly interactive magazine. This is done via Adobe InDesign with the goals of adding interactive elements such as videos, audios, gallery content to the magazine to accompany the reading experience.

Overview

Santa Land is a client based in New York City. This is a non-profit organization that hosts family events throughout the holiday season. Families can visit the Santa Land site at Atlantic Terminal Mall in Brooklyn, NY during the holidays to participate in family photography sessions with Santa. Other events include pet night for pictures with families and their pets, as well as storytime with Santa for storybook reading sessions for kids.

Web Designer - I was tasked with creating the website for this organization. This included designing the layout and theme of the site, adding all visual contents and text, and managing the site’s SEO.

About

Christ Church Secondary School of Guyana Alumni Association - New York, Inc is a nonprofit organization of alumni of Christ Church Secondary School in Guyana. This organization donates to the upkeep of Christ Church Secondary. Donations in the past have included and are not limited to fans; electronic equipment; chairs for teachers; trophies, certificates, and graduation needs, and home economics’ equipment.
